Merede had many associations with non-profit organizations including the Beldon Fund in Washington DC, the Center for Commercial Free Public Education in Oakland, and the Threshold and Namaste Foundations in San Francisco. She also had a huge love and appreciation for art.
This love of art and appreciation of non-profit organizations brought her to Healdsburg Center for the Arts as a volunteer at the annual Opera in the Garden event. That event, combined two of her passions: art and gardens. She was the owner of the Working Gardener in Healdsburg from 1999 to 2004. Sadly, Merede died of cancer in 2011 at the young age of 45.
Merede’s family chose to honor her by the annual sponsorship of the HCA Emerging Artists exhibit.
