BOOKMAKING SUMMER CAMP FOR TEENS

Ages: Teens (13 to 18 years)

Workshop description: Learn to make books with Book Arts Roadshow this summer. This workshop focuses on providing basic skills and instruction on how to make a selection of 8 folded, adhesive and sewn books, with particular emphasis on adapting bookmaking projects so they can be reproduced using materials and tools that are commonly found around the home and/or are reasonably easy to obtain. This lively, stress-free Bookmaking Summer Camp series in intended to provide bookmaking beginners with an opportunity to have fun, explore a crew creative outlet, and learn something new. Participants will learn how to make:

  • Hidden Pocket Book
  • Zine Fold Book
  • Caterpillar Book
  • Mini Zines in Pocket Cover
  • 3-Hole Accordion Dos-a-Dos
  • Asian Stab Binding
  • Twig Book
  • Tiny Treasures Folded Book

Instructors: Book Arts Roadshow

Sessions: 4 sessions via Zoom  
Dates: Saturday, June 27 & July 11, 18 & 25, 2020 (No workshop on July 4, 2020)
Times: 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM

Fee: $95

Materials Fee: Bookmaking materials & shipping provided by a generous grant from the Bill Graham Foundation.

Registration: Registration is open to people residing in the US (as packages will be sent via US Postal Service Priority Mail).

Materials:

Book Arts Roadshow will prepare all bookmaking materials for this workshop and will ship them to each registered participant via US Postal Service Priority Mail prior to the first session.

Tools: Participants need to provide their own:

  1. glue stick
  2. scissors
  3. pencil
  4. eraser
  5. ruler
  6. a few sheets of waste paper such as pages from an old magazine or catalog.

Zoom Access Code & Password:Registered participants will receive an email containing the Zoom access code & password on Friday, June 26, 2020.
(NOTE: The email will come from Book Arts Roadshow.)

Recording: The workshop will not be recorded and recording of this workshop is prohibited.
