In this 6-week series, students will learn about the tradition of sequential art – or storytelling with pictures and words – used in classic American comics, manga, and contemporary graphic novels. Comic books and graphic novels weave rich, lively visuals with a limited amount of text to drive the narrative. Students will be inspired to create their own character(s) and story plot as they explore techniques in cartoon and perspective drawing, character design, cover art, and storyboarding. This class is designed for both beginning and continuing students. Levi will give a brief overview of the genre in each class as he introduces new concepts, techniques and subjects.
