Pastel Landscape Workshop

In this two-day workshop in pastel, students will work in a cool classroom setting while exploring the medium of soft pastel (not oil pastel). Considered drawing by some and painting by others, using soft pastel presents a number of technical problems that will be addressed during the workshop. Topics will include a thorough review of materials (papers, boards, grounds and the pastels themselves), as well as procedural concerns (working hard to soft, dark to light, blending versus hatching and fixing). The class will work indoors from photographs or previous outdoor sketches. If there is enough interest in this workshop, we will begin offering this class as a series both indoors and outdoor with dates TBD.  All levels are welcome.
