Mosaic Stepping Stones

Create colorful and unique mosaic stepping stones for the garden in this 2-day workshop. This class is great for beginners and continuing students alike. We will cover design, approach, materials selection, tool use and mosaic setting and grouting. This class focuses on use of color, pattern and repetition, while teaching students how to use tile cutting tools to get special cuts, creating different looks with various setting styles.

Saturday is dedicated to design and mosaic creation, and on Sunday students will learn how to grout and finish their stepping stone so it can be displayed or used in the garden. Depending on how fast you work, you may be able to create up to 2 stepping stones. Or bring your own object from home to mosaic (ie. small table, frame, flower pot, etc.)

There will be a 45 min break for lunch on Sat. Please bring your own lunch.

All materials are included.

Barb McNally, (right in photo) is a graphic designer and Santa Rosa Junior College instructor by profession who has a passion for color and design. She mosaics in tile, stone, and glass, on any non-moving surface. Barb’s goal is to transform scavenged junk and recycled materials into treasures. She has studied with world renowned mosaic artist, Laurel True (truemosaics.com), in Mexico and France. Thanks to our local ceramics tile producer, McIntyre Tile, we’ll have a wonderful selection of hard-fire tile with which to create our colorful stepping stones.
