Encaustic – Part 2

Join Cari Hernandez for a day of creativity and YOU will leave with a beautiful finished piece ready to hang in your home. An easy technique for anyone to master. Compose and collage onto a wood panel with various papers and images. 

We will cover mixed media, encaustic basics incorporating collage, transparent papers, wood glue burn, oil stick, inking, pastels, objects, colored wax and MORE!  Each student will make 1 finished piece and learn all the skills required to continue creating at home.  You are welcome to bring photographs and flat small objects (keys, buttons, etc) from home. All other materials are provided by Cari as part of the materials fee.

About Cari

Cari Hernandez is a CORE Artist for R&F Handmade Paints, and will be bringing these professional grade materials with her for use in the workshop. Cari brings over 15 years of teaching experience, and in this workshop she will incorporate and expand upon the topics mentioned above.

Cari uses the ancient medium of encaustic (molten pigmented beeswax) to create many of her luscious abstract paintings and sculptures, as well as more commonly know mediums of oil and acrylic. 

As a full-time artist Cari teaches, lectures, and shows her work in the US and abroad. She is a founding board member of International Encaustic Artists (IEA). As a board member she served 5 years, serving as the Education Chair, which included creating and directing the first 3 annual retreats & conferences held in Carmel Valley, CA. Her methods and artwork are featured in two instructional DVDs, as well as being featured in several books and print articles. Cari is a CORE Artist for R&F Handmade Paints, Kingston, NY.
