Concert in the Plaza: Spanish Opera and more

Join Healdsburg Center for the Arts and the City of Healdsburg for an afternoon of opera, song and musical theater in the Healdsburg Plaza. Sunday, August 20 1:30 – 3:30 the Downtown Plaza will be filled with Spanish themed arias from Carmen by Bizet, Don Quixote by Ravel, tango songs from Argentina, selections from classical musicals such as Phantom of the Opera, My Fair Lady and Les Miserables, and of course Bésame mucho. 

Opera Stars

EUGENE BRANCOVEANU – baritone

Eugene Brancoveanu’s robust voice and superior stagecraft have earned him critical acclaim in both North America and Europe. His unforced charisma and vocal clarity has made Eugene a favorite of HCA opera goers, having performed both Opera in the Garden, Private Opera and last weekend at Pizza, Pasta & Puccini.

CAROLYN BACON – soprano

Carolyn Bacon is a young soprano based in San Francisco, known for her imagination, intelligence, and versatility as an opera and musical theater singer. She recently made her professional debut in Germany, and performs leading and supporting roles with Opera San Jose, West Bay Opera, TheatreWorks, Opera Parallèle, Pocket Opera, and Pacific Coast Repertory Theatre, among others. Pizza, Pasta & Puccini was Carolyn’s first Healdsburg performance, we are happy she is returning! 
 
STEVEN BAILEY– piano
Pianist Steven Bailey regularly performs in and outside the San Francisco Bay Area as soloist, chamber and collaborative keyboardist. He is a full-time Staff member of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and has appeared as a soloist with the American Bach Soloists, Symphony Parnassus, Diablo Symphony, UC-Davis Symphony, San Francisco Concerto Orchestra, and Magnificat Baroque Orchestra.

 

This delightful afternoon is made possible by a Healdsburg Community Benefit Grant awarded to Healdsburg Center for the Arts by the City of Healdsburg.
