Elizabeth Wonnacott

elizabeth-wonnacottI create my paintings to be decorative, enjoyable to live with and to engage you, the viewer, on your own terms. I begin all paintings with sketches to create the most engaging composition with a focus on simple shapes. Then I take my drawings and interpret them into harmonious color combinations and dramatic light and shadow patterns.  Gesture or a dramatic element is also an important aspect of my art and I endeavor to impart this to everything I paint.

My colorful representational oil paintings are personal interpretations of my very diverse subject matter. On display at HCA  you will see a wide variety of subjects. I simply paint what excites me that day or week. I work in a small studio in Santa Rosa and most of my source material is from my own photography.
