Youth and Teen Photography Contest
Coinciding with the “Stories Through Photography” exhibit, Healdsburg Center for the Art is holding a photography contest for Sonoma County residents between the ages of 7 and 18.
Photos are about family. Photos are about friendships. Photos are about art and creativity. Photos are about the love of natures and all of its beauty and creatures. Photos are about history. Photos are about memories. Photos are about being.
I love looking at photos taken by young people with little or no training in photography. Each photo is like looking at a newborn child who is beautiful and unblemished, a smile that is genuine, eyes that sparkle and a mind filled with awe and curiosity. Some of these photos are spontaneous, some are more thought out and some are actually staged. Each and every one sends a message, tells a story, shares an inner feeling and, above all, reflects a child’s joy and, at times, sadness. – Frank Carrubba, juror
There are twenty-three 7-12 year old entries and five 13-18 year old entries in this years’ contest.
Frank Carrubba, Susan Lazareschi, Cynthia Helen Beecher
