Robert Weiss

I have been involved in various forms of art all my life. For me, my images are an expression of what I personally enjoy.  I got my first brownie camera when I was six and took pictures of everything.  Fifty years later I’m still taking pictures of everything.  I love diversity in my art. Today, he still takes photos and works in his (much smaller) studio to produce hand thrown porcelain with crystalline glazes on them.  The glazing process is long and arduous but the results are well worth the time it takes to get to a finished piece.

I studied at Otis Art Institute where I received both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Fine Arts and was awarded the coveted Elsie De Wolfe Fellowship.  My formal education in not why I’m an artist: my drive to create emerged before my professional training and continues even stronger today.

For over thirty years I focused my art through various businesses I have owned.  The success of these businesses have allowed me to give back to my community.  All profits from the sale of my ceramics and photography are given to The Weiss Family Fine Arts Scholarship Fund.  Over the past five years we have awarded over twenty scholarships to graduating seniors at Healdsburg High School and we now plan to expand the fund to include other schools in Sonoma County.
