Ages: 16 plus
Acrylic is a versatile and forgiving medium. Students will learn the fundamentals of still life painting such as creating form and color mixing. We will compose unique still lifes with flowers, fruit, vegetables, ceramic objects while concentrating on lighting and positioning. Students learn the importance of creating an under painting, light and shadow and color composition. Demonstrations and a brief lecture will help with your painting process. Some experience in acrylic is helpful for this class. Max. 12 students.
A variety of acrylic colors that include: Violet, Red, Cad yellow Lt., Alizarin Crimson, Sap Green, Ultramarine Blue, King Blue, Black, Titanium White. Please bring any other colors you like and would want to substitute.
Brushes: A variety of flat, round, filberts nylon brushes; 1″, 1/2 inch, #2 round. Inexpensive snap and Simon brands are good choices.
White or grey palette of your choice.
Canvas. 11×14 or 14×18″ stretched canvas. More experienced painters may like a 16×20″ canvas.
Canvas pads or heavy paper for painting studies prior to painting on canvas.
Water container, slow drying medium, paper towels,
Bring your own easel, if possible. There are table easels and 4 standing easel available – please ask if you need to borrow one.
