I was initially drawn to wire sculpture by the early forms of Alexander Calder. There is a constant challenge in working three dimensions with wire. Because it’s still basically a line drawing, the figures are stuck somewhere between two and three dimensions....

My paintings combine pattern, figure and object to create psychological scenes open to the interpretation of the reader. Influenced by midcentury illustration, expressionism and psychoanalysis, I use graphite, gouache and oil to explore the psyche.
